Another fine Friday and some celebrate 14th of February as Valentines day.
Another day on the surface of earth and some call it a day for lovers. Yes a few years back i did feel the same for this day but then thinking about it now i feel kiddish. A day meant for lovers!!! God you gotta be kidding me. I was not much online today but then when i checked the Facebook account all i could see was people posting all kinds of rubbish about love. And it feels so annoying that people just can ignore what the current affairs looks like but can never forget about the Valentines day.I was chatting with a friend of mine and he greeted me with Valentines day wishes and asked me whether i have a girlfriend. All i could say is "If you see Cupid, bitch-slap that little punk for me, will ya?". I always hated Valentines day as i usually dont get the whole point of celebrating a day for your better half when she is always with you. He then went on explaining how he was planning to take his girlfriend on a candle-light dinner this evening The chatting went on and we were talking about how life was treating us and some of the random topic that we always had. All of a sudden i kinda asked him when his moms birthday was and he was mum coz he had once again forgotten. This is what i told him on a bit of a Sarcastic tone "The birthday of a lady who have given life to you and has spent her lifetime teaching you take each step in life with great effort could be forgotten and she only gets to make dinner rite?" He was struggling with his words and it took him half an hour to say "Buddy thats not what i meant". Well i believe that he could not carry on with the conversation as it was time for him to get his girl from the railway station. Looks like the time i took to make him realize that he needs to take care of his mother like he takes care of his girlfriend was in vain. Now tell me when is your Mothers birthday ?
There is always a reason to celebrate but then do we actually know why we celebrate Valentines day ? Valentines day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, the story of Valentine's Day takes us back to the 3rd century with an oppressive Roman emperor, Claudius II and a humble Christian Martyr, Valentinus. Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship twelve gods, and had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ; not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs. He was arrested and imprisoned. During the last weeks of Valentinus's life a remarkable thing happened. Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might be brought to Valentinus for lessons. She had been blind since birth. Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome's history to her. He described the world of nature to her. He taught her arithmetic and told her about God. She saw the world through his eyes, trusted his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength. One day Julia and Valentinus were talking about all the things that Julia wished to see and was praying in the cell and suddenly there was a brilliant light in the prison cell. Radiant, Julia screamed, "Valentinus, I can see! I can see!". Valentinus exclaimed, and he knelt in prayer praising lord almighty. On the eve of his death Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia, urging her to stay close to God. He signed it, "From your Valentine." His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory. He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave. Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. And since then each February 14, Saint Valentine's Day, messages of affection, love, and devotion are exchanged around the world."Now that you know why its a Valentines day, its up to you to decide if you wish to cherish Valentines day with a girl who 'might' probably end up as your wife or cherish another day on the surface of Earth.
Anyways Happy Friday :D..................
oh ya Happy Valentines Day :P
