The Trip to the North - Days in college

Our college life was like a classic story, complete with love affairs, breakups, friendly brawls, the "united we stand, divided we fall" motto, skipping classes, the typical teacher-student rivalry, parties, group studies, playing cricket the day before exams, getting caught for copying assignments, pursuing the latest heartthrobs in college, fighting for the most attractive girl in the college, enjoyable tea breaks, paper fights, competing for the last samosas, walking your girlfriend to the bus stop, tedious lectures, assignments, presentations, vivas, bike rides, post- exam trips, flunking exams, and the relief when your friend fails too. We also bunked classes to catch the first-day-first-show of our favorite stars and submitted projects at the last minute. These are things many of you have likely experienced if you've attended college in India.

Like many of you had a group at college or a gang, as some might call it, we also had a gang and we called ourselves 'The Devils.' In every group, there's that one guy who's a favorite among the girls, and Varun was that guy. Almost all the girls in college wanted to date him. However, Varun was head over heels in love with Deepa. Deepa was undoubtedly attractive, which initially led the four of us to pursue her. But ultimately, she chose Varun. She had mesmerizing eyes, cute chubby cheeks, a slightly pointed nose (you know what I mean), perfectly shaped eyebrows, silky smooth hands, and an incredibly infectious smile.

Here's the funny part: Deepa is now married, but not to Varun. She chose stability in life once college was over. As for Varun, he's now married to Ankitha. Varun met Ankitha through Facebook, and their connection grew rapidly.

Now, back to our story. During our college days, we were a close-knit team, a bunch of friends who, like everyone else, made the most of our college experience. None of us ever thought we'd end up where we are now. We all admired Varun for his "chocolate boy" image and his popularity among the girls, even the seniors. Since it's his story, let's focus more on him than on the rest of us.
